About Omiš
Omiš is small city located south of Split and it is great location if you want peaceful holidays while enjoying sun and natural beauties. City of Omiš has around 15 000 people so it is not overpopulated witch gives you some kind of peaceful atmosphere.
Omiš was populated around 7th century and it was called “Oneum” or “Onaeum” and it is located right on confluence of river Cetina (river that is giving drinking water to most of Dalmatia region).
In middle age Omiš was famous for it’s pirates who attacked and robbed other ships (specially Pope’s ships) and they were fear of all sails man! Old town Omiš is famous for its city center witch is very beautiful, but also it has some forts like: fort Mirabela, fort Fortica (Starigrad) and church of st. Mihovil.
